This past week, the global tech community gathered in Las Vegas for Mobile World Congress (MWC) Las Vegas 2024, showcasing the latest advancements in mobile technology. Over three days, more than 250 exhibitors, including major players like Nvidia, Salesforce, and UScellular, highlighted how 5G, artificial intelligence (AI), and edge computing are driving the future of business.

This year’s event wasn’t just a showcase but a reflection of the rapid progress made in 5G and AI, as well as a look at what lies ahead. Earlier this week in Business Insider, Lara Dewar, GSMA’s chief marketing officer, called MWC Las Vegas “North America’s top event for businesses seeking to harness the power of 5G and AI.” And according to GSMA, 5G is expected to contribute $210 billion to North America’s GDP by 2030, underscoring its significant economic potential.

Beyond these projections, MWC 2024 highlighted a critical evolution: 5G and AI are no longer abstract concepts—they are already driving real-world innovations. From healthcare to homeland security, the event explored how these technologies are being used to solve complex challenges and unlock new opportunities. Sessions focused on practical applications, showing how industries are leveraging 5G and AI to boost efficiency, improve services, and create new business models.

The excitement also extended to consumer technology. Apple, Samsung, and other smartphone manufacturers showcased how AI is transforming 5G-enabled devices. AI is being integrated to enhance cameras, extend battery life, and personalize user experiences, all enabled by 5G’s high-speed, low-latency connectivity. These advancements mark a new era in mobile technology, blending powerful AI capabilities with the widespread adoption of 5G.

Like its counterpart in Barcelona, MWC Las Vegas is becoming more than just a trade show—it offers the world a forward-looking perspective on how 5G and AI are reshaping telecoms, other industries and the way we live. As companies continue to explore the full potential of these technologies, the future of connectivity is being rapidly being redefined, opening up possibilities that will impact every facet of our world.

Now on to MWC Barcelona in 2025!
