International Women’s Day will be celebrated on the 8th March this year. It’s a timely reminder to us all but IWD isn’t about one day in a year, it’s about the continued cause that we need to act on every day.
Yes, let’s pause to remember how far we’ve come, but let’s not forget that equality – regardless of gender, race, religion, age and more – is powerful – and equality brings diversity to the fore for the greater benefit of all.
At Liberty, we embrace inclusivity and we believe everyone brings something to the table. Our approach gives credence to the idea that we can be more successful by bringing together different talents, personalities, genders and ideas. That’s truly what makes the Liberty team so special – we all matter equally. Liberty is lucky to have strong, diverse leadership.
Commenting on IWD, our fearless CEO, Elena Davidson said: “International Women’s Day for me is a day to remember those who fought so hard against injustice and discrimination and to support those who still do. It’s a day which should inspire us to look beyond our genders, races, religions and sexualities and try to do what we can to create a fair and just world.
“I know every day can’t be IWD but maybe we should use today to think about what we can do beyond today – to challenge the belief that what current exists should always exist – and to take those pledges forward to the rest of the year and beyond. As 2020 marks a new decade I would hope we can use IWD this year to also think ahead to the next 10 years and make pledges that will help shape the world we want well into the next decade.”
We’re all aligned in that it’s not just having the opportunity of one day to embrace women and we hope that our belief in the wider topic of equality – in life and in business – enriches our world. We’ll be celebrating IWD as a part of that culture. Happy IWD 2020 and beyond!
