Today, on the 113th International Women’s Day, we at Liberty are proud to be joining our partners, Canela as well as more than 20 organisations from across the world to “stop working for change.” This means that we will shut our doors for the day and donate all our team’s time to good causes promoting diversity and inclusion across the UK and the US. In this way our aim is to convert words into action through tangible support for causes that really matter.
While 72.1% of women in the UK are in full-time employment, just 26% cent of the tech sector is made up of female workers, and only 5% of leadership positions in tech are held by women. Although progress is being made, much more still needs to be done.
And this is only the tip of the iceberg. As a movement, we need to push for greater diversity across the whole spectrum of society – helping ensure our workforces correctly represent the communities we all support.
Campaigns such as The Stop Working for Change campaign are fundamental in driving the proactive message that equality should be central to us all.
At Liberty we are proud to support such an initiative and are delighted that we can provide practical help to a range of good causes. With the help of valued external partners and the support of The Stop Working for Change campaign, we are looking forward to promoting an environment where equality, respect and dignity can prevail.
